A simple system for accountability, designed around three principles: a daily check-in, minimal friction, and privacy by design.

Best Daily is built around a single core ritual: the daily check-in. Each day, you see your personal accountability questions and rate your effort on a 1–5 scale.
The framing is intentional: "Did I do my best to…" Not "Did I succeed?" Not "Did I win?" Just—did I do my best? Limiting the number to 3 questions forces focus.
This framing—inpsired by the work of Marshall Goldsmith—emphasizes effort over outcome. You control your effort. You can't always control results. Over time, your behavior changes during the day in anticipation of how you will answer the questions.
Why 1 to 5?
A 5-point scale is simple and decisive:
Capture the why.
After scoring each question, you can add a short reflection—up to 200 characters. Why was today a 2? What got in the way? What worked when you scored a 5?
Reflections are optional. Analyzing them later might be useful.
See your progress over time.
Best Daily tracks every entry, building a visual history of your effort:
- Trend charts for each question over 30, 90, or all-time days
- Streak counter to celebrate consistency
- Weekly averages to spot momentum
- Reflection history to revisit your own insights
Your goals evolve. So can your questions.
Life changes. Goals shift. Best Daily makes it easy to keep your questions current:
- Up to 3 questions active at any time.
- Reorder them with simple controls
- Archive old questions when goals change
- Add new questions as new priorities emerge
When you archive a question, all your historical data is preserved. You can always look back at the journey, even when the focus shifts.
Your data never leaves your device.
Best Daily is built differently than most apps. There's no account to create. No data sent to a server. No analytics tracking what you do. No advertising IDs collected.
Your data is stored locally on your phone, encrypted with AES-256 using the Android Keystore. Even if someone got hold of your phone's storage, your accountability data would be unreadable without your phone's security key.
If you uninstall the app, your data is gone. We have no copy.

Best Daily ships with notifications turned off by default. If you want a daily reminder, you can enable it and choose your preferred time.
