Introduction

Best Daily ("the App") is a personal accountability tracking application developed and maintained by Compromiso ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Best Daily.

Our core commitment: Your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your personal accountability data.

By using Best Daily, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you use Best Daily, you may provide the following information, which is stored only on your device:

• Your goal text (e.g., "exercise daily," "read more books")
• Custom accountability questions (up to 3 at any one time)
• Daily scores (1–5 rating per question)
• Optional reflections (up to 200 characters per question)
• App preferences (notification time, theme, etc.)

1.2 Information Automatically Collected

We do NOT automatically collect:

• Location data
• Contacts
• Browsing history
• Device identifiers (advertising ID, IMEI, etc.)
• Usage analytics
• Crash reports (unless you manually submit them)
• Network activity
• Files outside the App

1.3 Information We Never Collect

We never collect, request, or have access to: your email, phone number, name, biometric data, photos, contacts, calendar, health data, financial information, or government IDs.

2. How We Use Your Information

Because all your data stays on your device, we do not use your information for any purpose—we never see it.

The App itself uses your data on your device to display your daily accountability questions, calculate and show your trends and streaks, send you daily reminder notifications (if you enable them), and save your preferences for future sessions.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. We use:

• AES-256 encryption via SQLCipher
• Android Keystore (hardware-backed when available) to manage encryption keys
• No cleartext data transmission—the App does not contact any servers

3.2 Security Measures

We take security seriously: Database is encrypted at rest with industry-standard AES-256. Encryption keys are stored in the Android Keystore (hardware security module on supported devices). The App does not include cleartext HTTP communications. No third-party SDKs that transmit data to external services. No telemetry, analytics, or tracking libraries.

3.3 Android System Backups

By default, Best Daily disables Android's automatic cloud backup feature. Your data is not backed up to Google Drive or similar services through the operating system. This is intentional to maintain the security of your encrypted database. We recommend you use the export data feature on the Settings page to create a manual backup if desired.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 We Do Not Share Your Data

We do not share, sell, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party because we don't have your personal information.

We do not have: advertising partners, analytics providers, marketing services, data brokers, or affiliate networks.

5. Permissions We Request

5.1 POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+)

Purpose: To send you daily reminder notifications
When requested: When you toggle notifications on in Settings
Required: No—the App works without notifications

5.2 USE_BIOMETRIC (Optional)

Purpose: To allow you to unlock the App with fingerprint or face recognition
When requested: Only when you enable biometric unlock in Settings
Note: Your biometric data never leaves your device. The App only receives a confirmation that you authenticated successfully.

5.3 RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Purpose: To reschedule your daily notification reminder after your device restarts
Required: Only if you have notifications enabled

5.4 INTERNET (Declared but Not Used in v1.0)

Purpose: Reserved for future use
Current use: None—the App makes no network requests in v1.0

6. Children's Privacy

Best Daily is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Because we do not collect any personal information at all, this is straightforward: no data is collected from any user, regardless of age.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access Your Data

You can view all your data anytime within the App—there is no hidden data we hold about you elsewhere.

7.2 Export Your Data

You can export your data to a JSON file via Settings → Data & Backup → Manual export.

7.3 Delete Your Data

You can delete all your data at any time: within the App (Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete all local data), or by uninstalling. Because we have no servers and no copies of your data, deletion is immediate and complete.

8. Data Retention

We do not retain any data because we do not collect any data. Your data exists only on your device and is retained for as long as you keep the App installed or until you delete it.

9. International Users

Best Daily is designed to work the same regardless of your location. Because we do not collect or transmit your data, we do not transfer data across borders. GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations apply only to data we don't have. You retain full control over your data regardless of jurisdiction.

10. Third-Party Services

10.1 Open Source Libraries

Best Daily uses open source libraries including SQLCipher (database encryption), AndroidX libraries (UI and platform components), Kotlin Coroutines (asynchronous programming), and MPAndroidChart (chart rendering). All operate locally on your device.

10.2 Google Play Services

When you install Best Daily from the Google Play Store, Google Play Services may collect information per Google's own privacy policy, independent of this app. For details, see Google Play Privacy Policy.

10.3 No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising

Best Daily does not include Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Facebook SDK, advertising SDKs, tracking libraries, or telemetry services.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. For material changes, we will notify you within the App on next launch.

12. Limitations of Liability

Best Daily is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we use industry-standard security practices: no system is 100% secure; you are responsible for the physical security of your device; you are responsible for managing your device's lock screen, biometric setup, and access controls; you should regularly export your data if you wish to preserve it long-term; if you uninstall the App or factory-reset your device, your data cannot be recovered.
